Guest Artist Bio
Edmund Stone
Edmund Stone, readily recognized for his voice as an on-air host on the stations of All Classical FM, grew up on an English farm. As a teen-ager he toured in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet before moving to Scotland, where he reviewed films for BBC Radio, the Dundee Courier and various magazines.
Relocating to Los Angeles in 1980, he covered the Academy Awards and interviewed such entertainment personalities as Alfred Hitchcock and Mel Blanc. While in Hollywood he wrote or narrated more than 1,000 educational audio cassettes.
Stone joined the on-air crew of All Classical FM in 2001, where he is heard regularly on weekends and hosts the popular movie music program The Score.
Since 2005 he has served as narrator for a number of orchestras and ensembles in and beyond the Portland area. When not indulging his passion for classical music (he can’t get enough), animals (two dogs and two cats), and gardening (he’s a vegetarian who grows his own food), Stone is liaison officer for a chimpanzee rescue center in Cameroon, West Africa. Together with Portland veterinarian Sheri Speede, he co-founded the sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees in 1998.
