Portland, Ore. In a celebration of the spirit of American girlhood, the American Girl® Fashion Show, presented by the Oregon Symphony Women's Association, will feature a fresh, updated look showcasing historical and contemporary American Girl® fashions Nov. 10 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Oregon Symphony Youth Concerts.
The event includes refreshments, party favors and door prizes, along with souvenirs and a chance to win dolls and accessories from the various American Girl® brands. The fashion show is recommended for girls ages 5 and older. Tickets are $25 and includes the fashion show, refreshments, party favors and a tax-deductible contribution of $18. Raffle tickets are also available and may be purchased in advance for $5 each or 3 for $10. Entry and raffle tickets may be purchased through the Oregon Symphony Women's Association at 503-416-6327 and online at www.orsymphony.org/oswa.
The American Girl® Fashion Show provides an entertaining and educational look at how generations of American girls have used clothing to express their own unique style and personality. Local models will present the fashions while lively commentary and music will help to create a memorable experience for girls, their dolls and special guests. Attendees will see historical fashions -- from daywear and sleepwear to special-occasion clothing. For the littlest American Girl fans, models will showcase sweet dress-like-your-doll outfits from Bitty Baby® and frilly, feminine clothing from the Angelina Ballerina.
This event benefits the Oregon Symphony Youth Concerts, which introduce orchestral music into the lives of elementary and middle school students throughout Oregon. The Oregon Symphony presented its first "Music for Youth" Concerts in 1962 to junior and senior high school students in the Portland Public Schools. Today Youth Concerts are age-specific and support common curricular goals of the Oregon Content Standards in multiple subject areas. Oregon Symphony Education and Community Programs work with area teachers, administrators and parents to develop concerts that provide students with a quality experience in the arts and that are relevant to their current learning skills and knowledge.
