SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES
NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
____________________________________________________________________________________
Portland, Ore. Graham McReynolds, most recently the Chief Development Officer for the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association, will join the Oregon Symphony as Director of Development Dec. 3, Symphony President Tony Woodcock announced. "This appointment is an incredibly exciting opportunity for the Symphony organization," Woodcock said. "The breadth and scope of Graham's experience and his terrifically successful track record in leading major fundraising efforts, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build greater levels of support in the community and across the state."
McReynolds led CASA's $12 million annual campaign in Seattle, Wash., where he also secured multi-million dollar sponsorships from Exxon Mobil and the Gannett Corporation in addition to generating over $1 million in gifts and grants in the Washington D.C. market. Previously McReynolds was the Director of Advancement for Oregon Health Sciences University, where he planned and implemented a $25.5 million fund-raising campaign and achieved a record number of major gifts for the School of Nursing. He also increased annual giving at OHSU by 72 percent over two years and tripled the number of grants awarded to areas of responsibility.
McReynolds' career also includes senior fundraising appointments with Community Home Health and Hospice, where he initiated a planned giving program that generated gifts exceeding $1.5 million in the first year. From 1992 to 1995 McReynolds was Director of Resource and Development for the Oregon Hospice Association, and from 1985 to 1992 he was Regional Coordinator of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Seattle. McReynolds received a Bachelor of Arts from Gonzaga University and advanced studies in soliciting major gifts, planned giving, grant-writing, team building and leadership, human resources management and media relations.
"In speaking with one of his references, I gained a great insight into Graham's attitude toward arts and the Symphony in particular," Woodcock said. "She said of him: 'Graham has spent his career to-date raising money to help with people's bodies, now he wants to raise money to enrich their souls.'"
McReynolds replaces Lisa Brown, who resigned in August.
