FRIENDS OF THE OREGON SYMPHONY PRESENT
A PRELUDE PARTY: “TEA IN THE GARDEN”

Portland, OR - The Friends of the Oregon Symphony invites prospective new members to an afternoon of music in the garden, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Winners of the 2002 Corbett Young Artists Competition, an annual youth music contest featuring participants from the 9th through 12th grades, will perform.

The event will be held at a Dunthorpe residence whose gardens were designed by noted landscape architect Wallace Huntington. The home, by architect Richard Marlette, has been part of the Dunthorpe Garden Tour in previous years.

The purpose of the event is to introduce prospective members to the newly reorganized "Friends of the Oregon Symphony," a group of men and women dedicated to raising funds on behalf of the Oregon Symphony. Most of the funds support music education for young people.

Cost of the membership tea is $15. Reservations must be made by Aug. 30, 2002. For information and tickets contact the Friends of the Oregon Symphony, 921 SW Washington, Ste. 200, Portland, Oregon at 503-416-6328.
