FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, Ore… The Friends of the Oregon Symphony Symphony invite girls and their mothers, grandmothers and other relatives and friends to celebrate the spirit of American girlhood at the American Girl Fashion Show® on Nov. 2 at 10am, 1 pm, and 4 pm, and Nov. 3 at 1pm and 4 pm. Featuring a fresh, updated look, the all-new program showcases the styles of girls yesterday and today — with historical and contemporary fashions from American Girl, as well as adorable Bitty Baby and Angelina Ballerina outfits for younger girls.
A special attraction will be the introduction of Kaya, the new First American Girl, a 1764 Nez Perce character, from the series written by author Janet Shaw.
The American Girl Fashion Show® provides an entertaining and educational look at how generations of American girls have used clothing to express their own unique style and personality. Local models will present the fashions, while lively commentary and music will help create a memorable experience for girls, their dolls and special guests. Attendees will see historical fashions-from daywear and sleepwear to special-occasion clothing. For the littlest American Girl fans, models will showcase sweet dress-like-your-doll outfits from Bitty Baby and frilly, feminine clothing from Angelina Ballerina
Proceeds from the show will benefit the Oregon Symphony Youth Concerts. Oregon Symphony Youth Concerts introduce the wonders of great music into the lives of elementary and middle school students throughout the state of Oregon. The Oregon Symphony presented its first "Music for Youth" Concerts in 1962 to junior and senior high school students in the Portland Public Schools. Today, our Youth Concerts are age-specific and support common curricular goals of the Oregon Content Standards in multiple subject areas.
The event program includes refreshments, party favors, door prizes, along with special souvenirs and chances to win dolls and accessories from the various American Girl brands. The fashion show is not recommended for girls under five. The cost per person is $25, which includes the fashion show, refreshments, party favors and a tax-deductible contribution of $15. Raffle tickets are also available and may be purchased in advance for $5 each of three (3) for $10.
