FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, Ore. … Two subscription ticket packages that take listeners on a spring European tour are now available to the general public from the Oregon Symphony, featuring music from Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom and France. “These ticket packages offer a chance to hear captivating programs at significant savings over regular prices,” says Vice President of Marketing Sandra Snyder.
The two different ticket packages are offered at a super-saver price that includes two tickets to three different concerts for a total of $150. Each package includes best seating available at time of purchase in selected areas of the concert hall and offers a choice of concert dates. In addition, those who take advantage of this special offer will also receive a complimentary pair of tickets for the Russian Trio Voronezh on April 23 or 25. “It’s our way of inviting Portlanders to spend some quality time with friends, family and their orchestra this spring,” Snyder adds.
The first musical destination is Germany, beginning with Beethoven’s ground-breaking Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” on April 10 or 11. The tour continues to Austria on April 17 or 18 with Mozart’s graceful and aristocratic Symphony No. 35, “Haffner,” and concludes with a return stop in Germany on May 15 or 16 for Mendelssohn’s musical seascape, “ Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage.”
Audiences can also journey to the Emerald Isle on March 20 or 21 with star of the original production of “Riverdance” and nine-time Irish fiddle champion Eileen Ivers. Ivers and her Celtic band Immigrant Soul, accompanied by Irish dancers, will present an evening of Celtic-infused world music. The Oregon Symphony does not perform. Next it’s off to Scotland on April 17 or 18 with Peter Maxwell Davies’ lively “Orkney Wedding,” and then on to England for Walton’s musical homage to the bustling energy of Portsmouth Point. The excursion winds up on the coast of France on May 15 or 16 with Debussy’s sun-washed and evocative “La Mer.” For more information, call 503-228-1353 or visit the Symphony’s Web site at www.orsymphony.org.
