FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, Ore. … Gingerbread houses, evil witches, kryptonite and oversized lumberjacks. Some of the best-loved children’s stories will come alive as the Oregon Symphony performs “Tall Tales” on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Under the direction of Resident Conductor Gregory Vajda, the orchestra will perform musical tales with the help of a narrator to highlight details of the selected fables.
The tale of Tubby the Tuba will come alive as soloist JáTtik Clark plays the title role in a story about how a tuba found a melody to play. Translated into more than 30 languages and played by every major orchestra in the world, Tubby became an instant hit after its release in 1941.
