OREGON SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES NEW DEVELOPMENT LEADERSHIP

Portland, Ore. … The Oregon Symphony Association has announced today the appointment of Leslie Tuomi as Vice President for Development, effective July 1, 2007. Tuomi is currently the OSA’s Director of Major Gifts and Foundation Services.

Tuomi joined the OSA in 1995 as a development consultant and has since worked in virtually all areas of Symphony fundraising, including twice serving as interim director of development. She has served as director of major gifts and foundation services since 1999.

Board Chair Walter Weyler said, “Leslie is well-known and liked by many of our patrons and has been a central part of the Symphony's fundraising for 11 years.”

Prior to joining the OSA, Tuomi was the executive director of the Oregon Arts Commission. She also worked as an arts administration fellow at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C.

“Leslie’s dedication to the Oregon Symphony is a testament to her abilities as a leader,” said Interim President Mary Crist. “Her long-term experience with fundraising and the donor community at large is an integral part of securing a financially sound future for our organization.”

Tuomi graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in music from Lewis & Clark College.

“I love all the arts, but music is my passion,” said Tuomi.  “In my 11 years with the Oregon Symphony, the orchestra has grown so much artistically. It is an honor to work with Carlos, the board and the staff and to have the opportunity to lead our outstanding development team.”

She will succeed Eugene Gregory, who leaves to reactivate his fundraising consulting firm, Gregory & Associates.
