FORMER CONCERTMASTER

(Portland, OR) – Violinist Jun Iwasaki is scheduled to return to the Oregon Symphony as guest concertmaster for the final concert of the 2011/12 classical season—Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring—May 20th and 21st.

No stranger to the first chair, Iwasaki held the Symphony concertmaster position from August, 2007 to June, 2011 when he became concertmaster at the Nashville Symphony.  He comes to Portland from New York, following Nashville’s performance at the 2012 Spring for Music festival.

Tickets to the concert, ranging in price from $21 to $92, are available online at OrSymphony.org, by phone at 503-228-1353 and in person at 921 SW Washington (M-F, 10-6).

The Oregon Symphony’s recently named concertmaster, Sarah Kwak, will make her first appearances with the orchestra at the August 30th Waterfront Park concert and the September 8th “Opening with a Bang” concert featuring renowned percussionist Colin Currie.
