FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OREGON SYMPHONY CONCERTS SET
TO HIT THE AIR WAVES ON
ALL CLASSICAL 89.9 FM
(PORTLAND, Ore.) – Local, national and international audiences will soon be able to enjoy four Oregon Symphony concerts from the current 2011/12 season which are now scheduled for radio broadcast over the next few months, thanks to the continued partnership between the orchestra and Portland’s 24/7 classical music radio station, All Classical 89.9 fm.
In making the announcement Symphony President Elaine Calder said: “Last season’s triumphant Carnegie Hall debut introduced the Oregon Symphony to a larger world. Now, thanks to All Classical, we look forward to sharing the work of our Music Director Carlos Kalmar and our talented musicians on a more regular basis with an even larger audience.”
All Classical President and CEO Jack Allen commented on the importance of the broadcasts, noting that “part of All Classical’s mission is to build and sustain a local community around classical music and reflect the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. This natural partnership with our own Oregon Symphony, a jewel in the cultural crown of the entire west coast, is a perfect example of how listener-supported radio can create public service and grow audience, through supporting the local arts community.”
These four concerts are being recorded by Boston-based Soundmirror, who recorded our recent PentaTone CD “Music for a Time of War” which was released to significant acclaim in 2011. Portions of these recorded concerts will also be featured on our next PentaTone CD, which has yet to be titled and is expected to be released in the fall of 2012.
In addition to broadcasting the complete concerts, All Classical will add the individual pieces and their movements onto their play rotation. These broadcasts will be available to audiences via live streaming and a two-week archive period following each broadcast at allclassical.org.
