Beyond the Schnitz
Oregon Symphony Community Engagement Programs

The Oregon Symphony and its musicians are deeply involved in the community in places that stretch far beyond the confines of our concert hall. Here are a few of the things happening in that arena during the month of October.

String Kinderkonzerts in three area host schools October 26-28. These concerts are open to the public and inclusively priced at $2 for students and free for chaperones and students on free and reduced lunch.People interested in attending should visit our website for all the details:

http://www.orsymphony.org/edu/youthconcerts.aspx

Symphony Storytimes will be every Wednesday at 4-5 pm in October at the Gregory Heights library 7921 NE Sandy Blvd. These are for preschoolers and their parents. Each week, a different musician from each section of the orchestra will play along as the youth librarians reads from several beloved children’s books chosen just for this special Storytime. Audience members are encouraged to try out the instruments, too! Other branches in the Multnomah County Library system will hold Symphony Storytimes this year- check out the dates, times and locations here: http://www.orsymphony.org/edu/storytimes.aspx
