FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OREGON SYMPHONY RETURNS TO
COFFEE CREEK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

(PORTLAND, Ore.) – For the third year in a row, Oregon Symphony musicians will add a special brand of holiday cheer for the incarcerated women at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility.

This season’s December 13 performance promises to be something special as the Oregon Symphony Brass Quintet is joined by the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility Choir, under Creative Director Crystal Akins of the Intergenerational Choir program.

The concert, always one of the most emotional experiences of the season, will feature a specially arranged medley of cheer, culminating in the traditional sing-along portion which always gets the audience on their feet singing and swaying to their favorite holiday carols.

The Oregon Symphony Brass Quintet is comprised of Jeff Work and Dave Bamonte (trumpets), Joe Berger (horn), Dan Cloutier (trombone), JáTtik Clark (tuba), and Sergio Carreno (percussion).

This concert is part of the Symphony’s Community Engagement program, designed to share the power of music with as many people as possible. Each year the Symphony shares music and music education with over 50,000 students and adults in over 200 events beyond the concert hall each year—including schools, hospitals, libraries, other neighborhood venues, and prisons.

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is a multi-custody facility in Wilsonville that houses more than 1,200 women. It provides intake and evaluation of all female and male inmates committed to state custody. CCCF delivers a range of correctional services and programs including alcohol and drug treatment, education, work opportunities, cognitive programming, and pre-release services. The minimum facility opened in 2001, and the medium facility opened in 2002. Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is Oregon’s only women’s prison.
