Northwest Community Gospel Chorus 2024

25th Anniversary Season

Attend the 2024 Gospel Christmas Concert

The Northwest Community Gospel Chorus (NWCGC) is a unique and diverse group of singers with varied musical expertise. The Chorus is committed to “using their God-given gifts to bring our audiences a message of faith, hope, love, and joy through the perpetuation of Gospel music as an original American art form.” NWCGC is an audition-based chorus formed specifically to bring Gospel music to the audiences of the Oregon Symphony.

Gospel Christmas

NWCGC joins the Oregon Symphony every holiday season to present the annual Gospel Christmas concerts; December 2024 will mark the 25th year of this unmissable holiday tradition. The multi-cultural chorus consists of approximately 80 members from 25 houses of faith and organizations in the Portland area and beyond.

The founding members of the choir are Charles Floyd, Conductor and Orchestrator; Dorothy Davis, a highly respected leader in the Portland/Vancouver Gospel Music Workshop of America; Terry Davis, music minister at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church; and Susan Nielson, former Director of Popular Programming for the Oregon Symphony. G. Louis Hemenway has served as the NWCGC Music Director for 23 years.
