Dr. David Schiff, composer, conductor, author, and professor of music at Reed College, will give an informal presentation on the music of Mahler during the dinner.
David Schiff, R.P. Wollenberg Professor of Music at Reed College, is a composer, writer, and conductor whose music draws on elements of jazz, rock, and klezmer styles. His work has been performed by major orchestras and festivals around the United States, including the Oregon Symphony and Chamber Music Northwest. He is the author of several books, as well as many articles on Mahler and others for The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Tempo, and more.
