Extremes of Expression and Majestic Orchestral Sonics
May 22 & 23, 2027
Danzmayr & Porter
Overview
Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9 stands as one of Western symphonic music’s most revered monuments. The often-misunderstood Austrian master worked on the titanic project for over a decade, but died while composing the fourth movement—resulting in a three-movement symphony noted for its spellbinding orchestral sonics and extremes of expression. The program begins with Mozart’s most ambitious violin concerto, nicknamed the “Turkish” for its rollicking finale.
