Blind Pilot
Blind Pilot have spent nearly two decades making music that feels both elegantly composed and earnestly raw, shaped by the easy chemistry of a band that first took root when Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski formed an early version of the group as college students in the mid-aughts. Since then, the Oregon-bred band has built a quietly revered and treasured catalog, with Nebeker’s songwriting at the center and support from Dobrowski on drums, Luke Ydstie on bass, and multi-instrumentalists Kati Claborn and Dave Jorgensen.
Released in 2024, In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain marked Blind Pilot’s first album in eight years and a deeply felt creative renewal. After a period of artistic crisis, Nebeker reimagined his songwriting process, challenging himself to write an entire album in a month before bringing those songs to the band with a new sense of openness. Produced by Josh Kaufman, the record captures Blind Pilot at their most fluid and instinctive, with the band working from trust, patience, and a renewed devotion to the live chemistry that has long defined the group.
The result is a graceful, revelatory chapter in the band’s career — one that honors the warmth, closeness, and reverence for connection that have always been at the heart of their music, while pointing toward an even more open-ended future.
