Open Music is a concert series conceived by Creative Chair Gabriel Kahane in which composers offer a peek into their creative process through an evening of music and conversation at an intimate venue, the Alberta Rose Theatre, in Portland.
For our second season, we’ve invited three composers to engage in thoughtful conversation with co-host Nathalie Joachim (composer, musician, and vocalist) through concerts of their own design. In addition to music crafted by the composers themselves, these intimate evenings will include music—and sometimes even visual art or literature—that inspires and informs their work. We’ll hear excerpts played by Oregon Symphony musicians, and we’ll talk about it on stage for a series of evenings that will be at once casual, edifying, and full of wonder.
Grab a drink, bring a friend, and hear some of the most creative composers and thought leaders of our time offer a fascinating window into the creative process.
