School Programs

Side-by-Sides

As part of our commitment to coaching and mentoring musicians from local high schools, youth orchestras, and community orchestras, the Oregon Symphony provides multiple free Side-by-Side experiences each season. The concerts feature musicians from high school and community ensembles performing alongside their professional counterparts, inspiring students and enriching our community of music-makers.

About

2025/26 Side-by-Sides

Partnering with Salem-Keizer Public Schools and Portland Public Schools, this season we bring our Side-by-Side program to students at Franklin High School’s Wind Ensemble in Portland and West Salem High School’s Symphony Orchestra in Salem. Oregon Symphony musicians mentor students in coaching sessions, leading up to a culminating rehearsal and concert led by Harold & Arlene Schnitzer Associate Conductor Su-Han Yang, performing to an audience of feeder middle school instrumental music students.
